Throughout my childhood and even today reading has helped me develop as a person and a young adult. Reading is not just a hobby, but it is an escape into an alternate universe. When you read it’s as if you’re transported from your world to the characters in the book. I am positive that I am not the only one who feels this way about reading. Reading for me has always been an escape from reality. When I was having a hard time I would sit down and read a book and imagine I was living in the book as one of the characters. Reading is an important skill to have to succeed in life, not only does it help you socially but it also increases your intelligence. Reading has always served as an escape for me. When I was in elementary school I was bullied a lot and when I thought about giving in I would read a book. In books you can be anybody you want, I used to pick a character in a book that I liked and I would try to experience the book in their perspective.
